A-F State Report Card Update

Posted Date: 10/22/26 (09:13 AM)

Dear Rolla 31 Families,

You may have noticed stories in the news regarding the first pilot A-F Grading Framework for Missouri Schools, created by the State Board of Education under an executive order from Governor Kehoe. Districts across the state received embargoed preliminary letter grades based on their 2024-25 performance data this week. Subject to media release, the public may learn of the preliminary scores along with district personnel.

This grade is a pilot, meaning it is not final. It is the first year of a brand-new state system, based on data from the 2024-25 school year, and the state is still finalizing how grades are calculated. We fully expect the framework to change over time, and as it does, our grade may change too. It is one measure among many. R31 District leaders and many others from around the state have shared concerns with the state about how quickly this system was developed, and we will continue to seek out additional information as the process continues.

We believe in accountability and have worked diligently under every set of metrics set forth by our governing body. Those results are published on our website each year, along with our plans to focus on any areas identified for improvement. We anticipate the Annual Performance Report will still be produced in addition to the A-F Grade Card. This also has the potential to cause confusion, as there will be two different accountability systems being utilized.

As a public school, we serve every student who walks through our doors, including children with very different needs, circumstances, and starting points. That responsibility is fundamental to who we are, and it is one reason a single letter can never tell the whole story of a school or the educators who choose to serve our community.

Thank you for your partnership. Our teachers and staff work hard every day to help each student grow, and we will continue to do so. More information will be provided as we continue to learn about this framework.

Sincerely,

Dr. Kyle W. Dare
R31 Superintendent
