18 February 2016 ~ SB Clips

Recognition ~ On behalf of the Board of Education, Mr. Froehlich recognized the 8th grade Girls' Basketball Team. The team recently finished their season with a 16-0 record.

RTI-RTC ~ February is Career and Technical Education month. More that 200,000 Missouri high school students and adults took part in career education programs during the 2014-15 school year.

District Reconfiguration ~ Dr. Zalis updated the board on the progress of the district reconfiguration teams.

Public Hearing - 2016-17 School Calendar ~ As provided by state statute and duly published, a public hearing will be held at 5:30 pm, at which time citizens may be heard on the 2016-17 calendar.

Board Recognition ~ Members of the RCTA recognized the Board of Education for School Board Recognition Week January 24-30, 2016.

Staff Recognition ~ On behalf of the Board, Mr. Froehlich recognized Mr. Rodger Bridge for being selected as the South Central High School Student Council Advisor of the Year.

Staff Recognition ~ The Board recognized Mr. Mike Howard for being named as a Missouri State High School Soccer Coaches Association Hall of Fame Coach.

Staff Recognition ~ The Board recognized Dr. Stacey Reed for receiving her doctorate degree in education.

Technology Round-Up ~ Members of the Technology Dept. will report on what is happening with technology training this year.

Student Recognition ~ On behalf of the Board, Mr. Froehlich recognized Mr. Jesse Liu for serving as the Student Representative to the Board for 2015.

Student Recognition ~ On behalf of the Board, Mr. Froehlich recognized Mr. Jason Bartelsmeyer's students who were chosen to be in the 2016 MO Music Educators in Conference in January. Student chosen: Sophia Holmes, Micvhael Khayat, Elise Mazzeo, Braiden Wells

2016 Student Advisor ~ In accordance with policy BCEA - Student Advisor to the Board of Education, the new student advisor, Alex Pettijohn was sworn in.

Track Bleachers ~ Bids were received for bleachers at the Rolla track on 17 DEC 15. Bids were received from six companies. Mr. Hinshaw made a recommendation to the Board.

Re-configuration Update ~ Dr. Zalis and Mr. Hinshaw reported on the progress on the district re-configuration.

American Education Week ~ In recognition of American Education Week, November 15-21, 2015, the board would like to thank the community and staff for helping students be successful.

Staff Recognition ~ Mrs. Amy Herrman was recognized for being named the South Central District Assistant Principal of the Year.

Staff Recognition ~ Ms. Taylor Morris was recognized for receiving the 2015 Outstanding Future Foreign Language Teacher award from the Foreign Language Association of Missouri (FLAM).

Staff Recognition ~ Mrs. Lynn Bergmann was recognized for receiving a $3,000 #MySmileMatters mini grant for HOSA.

Staff Recognition ~ Ms. Jessika Zink was recognized for receiving the PLTW Launch Teacher of the Year.

2014-15 Audit Report ~ Representatives from Graves and Associates, CPAs, LLC presented the 2014-15 district audit report.

Reconfiguration Construction ~ Mr. Kelly Hinshaw presented request to proceed with storage building upgrade at RTI for Food Services.

New Career Technical Program ~ RTI/RTC requested approval for an Early Childhood Career and Technical Education program as an addition to a secondary course offerings.

School Improvement Plans:

Annual Performance Report (APR) ~ Mr. Craig Hounsom reviewed the APR recently released by the state.

Backpack Program ~ Mrs. Faith Barnes presented update on the Friday Backpack Program that provides food for children over the weekend.

Mark Twain Student Leadership Team ~ Mrs. Rachael Drabczyk and members of the mark Twain Student Leadership team gave a presentation about their program.

District Re-Configuration ~ Dr. Zalis and Mr. Hounsom presented information on the progress of the district re-configuration plan.

Recognition ~ 2014-15 Yearbook Staff - The board recognized the 2014-15 yearbook sponsor and staff for receiving the Gallery of Excellence Award for 2015 from Walsworth. Only the top 10% of yearbooks are chosen for this award.

CORE ~ Bob Holmes, president of Champions of Rolla Education (CORE) presented information about the foundation.

Assessment Data ~ Mr. Craig Hounsom reviewed the results of last year's testings.

Recognition ~ The board recognized Mrs. Jeanne Cavender for her service to the Board of Education.

Student Recognitions ~ RTI students who attended SkillsUSA and DECA competitions were recognized.

RHS Student Council Recognition ~ Student Council President Sarah G. Jones and representative Charles Skyles both earned Distinguished Student Leader Awards. Student Council also received MASC Honor Council Award.

Student Recognitions ~ The board recognized students who placed at the Missouri State University's Pummill Math Relays.

Staff Recognition ~ Mr. Myers recognized Ms. Jarena Fleischman for being selected as the South Central Middle School Counselor of the Year.

Staff Recognition ~ Mr. Myers recognized Mrs. Laurie Myers for being the recipient of the NAEA Women's Caucus Carrie Nordlund Award.
