The Rolla Board of Education is pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Corey Ray as the next Lead Principal of Rolla High School, effective July 1, 2023. Dr. Ray will be assuming the position formerly held by Dr. Jim Pritchett, who will retire at the end of June.

Dr. Ray is originally from Leasburg, MO, and has worked in the Rolla Public School District since 2007. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Math Education from the University of Missouri - Columbia (1998); A Master of Arts Degree and Secondary Principal Certification from Lindenwood University - St. Louis (2007); and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration, Elementary Principal Certification and Superintendent Certification from Maryville University (2013). He has served on the Executive Committee of the Missouri Association of Elementary School Principals and is a member of the National Association of Elementary School Principals. Ray was named the South Central Missouri School Counselors Association (MSCA) Advocate of the Year and the MSCA Administrator of the year in 2019.

Dr. Ray began his career as an 8th-grade Math Teacher at West Junior High School in Columbia, MO (1998-2000). He taught and coached at Bourbon High School (2000-2007). Dr. Ray became a Math Teacher at Rolla High School in 2007. He transitioned to the Assistant Principal role at Rolla High School in the fall of 2008. He spent five years at RHS as the Assistant Principal before assuming the role of Principal at Col. John B. Wyman Elementary in the fall of 2013. Dr. Ray will continue to lead Col. John B. Wyman Elementary through June 2023.

Dr. Ray is married to Kim Ray and has two children, Kyra and Corryn. He enjoys spending time on the farm and with his family. When asked for a comment on his upcoming move to Rolla High School, he said, “I want to thank Dr. Dare and the Rolla Board of Education for this opportunity to serve as the principal of Rolla High School. I am proud to have been a part of the good things happening at Wyman Elementary. I am excited to return to Rolla High School to continue the good things already happening there.”
