Congratulations to Mr. Scott Rust who just completed his 55th year of teaching Driver's Education! During that time, Mr. Rust has taught hundreds of students over 3 generations to drive.
When asked what kind of car the students were driving when he started teaching he said, "I just got a note from a student in my very first class. We had a white Ford Fairlane stick-shift. We burned out 3 clutches that year!"
"I've only been in one [crash] all these years. We sideswiped a truck on the sharp curve out on BB Highway. It stripped off the side of the car and broke the mirror. Didn't do anything to the truck. Scared me...a little! But it didn't hurt anybody."
Mr. Rust was happy to end the year on a high note with his granddaughter Cappy at the wheel. Congratulations on many successful years, Mr. Rust, and THANK YOU for your service to the Rolla students and community!
